Tried, tested and loved: These are the brow products R29 editors buy again and again

I recently saw a video on TikTok of a girl wearing half of her makeup the way it would be today and the other half the way it would be in 2016. What caught my eye wasn't the lighter concealer coverage or our newfound love for nose blush (both of which are definitely 2023).

But the way she drew her brows was 2016—her brows were dark and arched; Kim Kardashian used concealer to create sharp brows. 2023 - She has the opposite: thick, fluffy, soapy brows, with hair pushed upwards to accentuate the face.

Fashion trends aside, the way we draw our brows is of course a very personal matter - each of us knows what works best for our face shape. But there's no denying that brows are often the first feature we enjoy from new treatments, applications and products, whether we're laminating, bleaching, tinting

microshading, highlighting, fake tanning or shaving them off entirely ; Go to the salon and spend a little money to get the perfect look. But if you think you need to cut back on your monthly pint budget for a pair, think again.

In the beauty sections of your local Boots and our favorite beauty retailers, you'll find everything you need to achieve your best brows at home, whether you're a brow girl in 2016 or 2023 - you don't need the help of a specialist.

We scoured the "best of" beauty reviews and asked the Refinery29 office about the best brow products our team actually uses, from standard gels, powders, and pencils to serums, treatments, and tools.

best eyebrow gel: Clear or tinted brow gel is truly a lazy girl’s best friend. For an elegant look, simply brush your brows on your way out. If you prefer a bolder approach, apply product to a brush; if you want a lighter, more awake look, buff it out and comb your hair toward your temples.

Blink Brow Bar London Clear Brow Gloss, £23: If you're looking for a clear brow gel, the Blink Brow Bar should be at the top of your list. Not only does it keep your brows in place throughout the day, but it also makes them stronger thanks to a blend of kangaroo bark extract

(which stimulates cell metabolism) and vitamin E and jojoba oil. Plus, rosemary leaf oil (yes, that thing everyone's obsessed with hair growth) is used to promote regeneration in thinning areas. Shiny Boy Brows, £18

For anyone with naturally thick brows or a preference for lighter brows, Glossier's OG Boy Brow is hard to beat. Inspired by traditional hair wax, it uses beeswax and carnauba wax to leave brows soft and flexible without stiffening or flaking - perfect for that "my brows, but better" look.

It's also rich in natural fats lecithin and oleic acid (derived from olive oil) that condition and moisturize brows. Benefit Gimme Brow+, £19.60. If you're looking for a fuller look, Benefit's Gimme Brow+ is a real hero product.

We love a classic brow pencil, especially one that's soft, blendable and creates natural-looking brows with a formula you can create any way you want. It would be even better if it could also be used as a light eyeliner.

Blink Brow Bar London Extra Fine Brow Pencil 2.0, £19. Thanks to its ultra-small micro tip, this pen delivers soft, natural, hair-like strokes. Soft, viscous formula packed with vitamins E and C take care of your eyebrows

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, £23. It's no surprise that unofficial brow queen Anastasia Beverly Hills has one of the best brow pencils on the market made. The Brow Wiz doesn't look like much at first glance, but it has a very fine tip that helps mimic the look of individual hairs.

but this also means you can really customize your look; whether it's dense and strong, or light and soft. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Cream, £19, £15.20. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade is one of the best we have tried. It adds definition and thickness to brows

Best eyebrow powder. We love using powder to create truly natural-looking brows, especially since it often contains two complementary shades that you can mix to create the perfect shade. This is an especially great option for redheads and blondes who have trouble finding their exact color.

BBBLondon X FD Future Dream Brow Palette, £25. Not only is this one of the most innovative brow powder kits we've ever seen - it comes with stencils to help you get the perfect brow shape - it's also one of the most comprehensive.

It has been developed in partnership with cancer charity Future Dreams and is aimed at cancer survivors, particularly those who have lost forehead hair due to chemotherapy. Inspired and supported by Blink Brow Bar General Manager Taj Giles, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

The powder is also ultra-finely ground, so it's easy to blend and create the perfect shade - a must-have for anyone with bottled blonde hair and those whose hair tends to change color the longer they leave the salon.
